Didn’t think I’d be sitting here, freezing on this bus ride. Everyone is asleep yet it’s freezing on this bus. The air conditioning is blasting right on me. The guy next to me keeps falling over on me as if he were to rest his head on my shoulder. It’s funny but slightly uncomfortable. I love the bus :)

Courage is the Key

Joshua 1:9

When it comes to leadership, you can have all the skills in the world on leading people, but there is one thing that separates you from most: Courage. This one word - action - will take your leadership to the next level. If you don’t get the courage from the lord that’s needed to carry out your task you won’t see progress. If you aren’t scared about where you’re headed in your future (in reference to it being so HUGE) than you won’t grow. Think big and exercise your courage muscle by getting out of your comfort zone and reaching for new heights in something you’ve never done before. Keep change alive, exercise courage and repeat. Growth can’t happen without change and change can’t happen without courage. Muster it up.

Uncommon Courtesy

As I was reading my daily devo’s the other day, it said that as the Church, we are to have an uncommon courtesy toward others. I thought to myself how relevant that is to our generation right now and how important it is to do something so extraordinary that it’s uncommon to the people around you. In August of last year we had our summer conference at Champions Centre and it was themed around the word, extraordinary. That word still sits in my spirit as a reminder of what we were called on this earth to do. If we could muster up just a little bit of courage to go out of our way to make someone else’s day brighter, then I believe God will do the rest. Nothing extraordinary happens without God, but with a little bit of courage and a God whose love never fails, we can do the extraordinary. So take a minute this day to think of how you can show someone uncommon courtesy.

Unconvinced

Read Proverbs 21:28.

Think back to the times when you were a child. You played, laughed, loved and got in trouble a lot. I remember when I would break something and my parents would ask me, “Did you break your brothers toys?” and in response I’d say, “No.” as if they didn’t see me drop my brothers lego’s right in front of them. I seemed convinced in my mind that they would believe me, but my plans unfortunately didn’t work out the way I suspected. I know when I’m lying it’s hard to even convince myself it’s true. I think mom’s get a built-in lie detector when they give birth to a child. Whenever I lie to my mom it’s really not convincing at all, let alone she’d figure it out anyway. God knew we’d try to lie about what we’ve done to “get away” with something. When Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree they tried to hide from God and even pass blame! God says to Adam, “Where are you?” and no, God doesn’t not know where Adam and Eve are, He just wants them to realize where they are at. God wants nothing more than for us to be in His arms whenever we make mistakes. He loves us too much to even write out. If we can’t convince mom with our attempts to “get away” with something then why do we do it to God? Humbling yourself before God and being honest will show God that you love Him. It’s easy to be convincing when you’re telling the truth.

An old blog revived?

This is part of something I wrote in a blog at the beginning of this year and reading it now is just pretty cool but I thought I’d share it as well. Keep in mind this was January 28th of 2010.

"First of all, I just want to say God has been good to me in this past year and it was definitely a year of CHANGE in my life. I’m so excited for what God has in store for me this year and all the things He’ll show me in my life this year. This is definitely going to be a year of breakthrough, not only for me but for many others as well. 2010. It’s a new decade and that just means we have ten years until the next decade. What will we do in those ten years? I hope it’s impacting, life-changing, shocking, amazing, and grandormous! (is that a word? Well, it is now) I really feel like we can make a difference we just need some direction. This generation is very passionate, and that’s awesome! We just need to funnel the passion because it’s going other places like, drugs, sex, alcohol, lies, insecurities, less self-worth, and anything else you can think of that sounds bad. BUT then again, that’s pretty much always been going on since the beginning of time. What I’m really trying to get across is that maybe we can be the break in the chain; maybe this trend of bad things ends here and now. Do YOU believe that we can be the change that we wish to see? Do you think we have the ability to lead others into victory, success, prosperity, joy, happiness, kindness, self-control, beauty, love? I think so. It just takes a light-switch like device in your brain called VISION to turn on. Where did the vision go? we get all fired up at our rally’s and church events but the flame dwindles in the fast-paced daily routines of life and we FORGET why we were even telling people about Jesus in the first place. Why do we even go out and invite people to church? Why do we take the time to have a twitter account and talk about how cool service was Wednesday night? Why do we even try to put Bible study groups in our schools and around our communities? Oh yeah, because we have a purpose to fulfill. We are called by God to lead people to Christ and see this nation and world come to know Him, that every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. Don’t let the daily mundane tasks take you away from the very thing we should be thinking about every minute of every day. We are working to advance the Kingdom, to seek and save the lost, to do what Jesus did while he was here on earth. REMEMBER what He did and move! Act now, take heart to this cause and go after the lost and the hurting and the broken. Let us turn our eyes to God and learn to love like He loves and let’s share that love. Let us LOVE. I don’t know why I am even talking about this, but I just feel like we need a wake up call and if you want to make a difference you don’t need to wait until you have that new job, or that new car, or that new year, or that new house, or that new feeling, or that new Jesus. He’ll been the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. So do what you can with what you have and GO. If you have money, give it; if you have knowledge, apply it; if you have truth, testify to it; if you have words, write them; if you have wonder, amaze someone; if you have love, share it. Whatever you have, God gave it to you to do something with, so go, and MOVE. I dare you."
